Tigerbelles Have Strong Day One of NCAA East Preliminary Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Day one of the NCAA East Preliminary Round is in the books for the Tennessee State women's track and field team after Thursday's action at Hodges Stadium.

Senior Clairwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) was the top performer for the Tigerbelles on the day, securing 17th place in the long jump with a mark of 6.06m (19'10.75") on her final attempt. Dameus extended her distances throughout the day, beginning at 5.61m and going to 5.99m before turning in her 6.06m jump.

Also in the long jump, Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) turned in a mark of 5.76m (18'10.75") on her first attempt of the day.

On the track, Kayla Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) clocked in at 1:01.10 in the 400m hurdles to take home 43rd place.

Tomorrow's schedule includes Hughes and Dameus in the 100m hurdles and Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) in the high jump.
