TSU Golf Growing the Game with Grant Thornton

8/18/2022 3:45:00 PM

The Tennessee State men's and women's golf programs are now pairing up with Grant Thornton LLP, one of America's largest audit, tax, and advisory firms. Together, the organizations will enhance Tennessee State golf programs, while also creating professional growth opportunities for student-athletes on campus.

As part of the effort, Grant Thornton will work with the golf programs to sponsor tournaments and provide operational assistance or support with facility improvements during the 2022-2023 school year. Grant Thornton will also participate in on-campus recruiting workshops and other athletic department events throughout the next year.

"Grant Thornton is focused on growing the game of golf, and its partnership with the PGA TOUR makes it an ideal ally as we continue to grow our golf programs," said head coach Parrish McGrath. "Grant Thornton realizes the impact improved resources can have on not just HBCU's but the game of golf for everyone. We look forward to developing our relationship with Grant Thornton and we are excited about the future opportunities ahead."

Teaming up with Tennessee State is part of Grant Thornton's larger effort to grow the game of golf. The firm will be providing support to other historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) golf programs, including Alabama State, North Carolina A&T University, North Carolina Central University, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas Southern University.

Grant Thornton's support of Tennessee also complements other commitments the firm has made in golf. Most notably, it is an Official Marketing Partner of the PGA TOUR and has an ambassador roster that includes PGA TOUR and LPGA TOUR players. What's more, Grant Thornton is also a Proud Partner of THE PLAYERS Championship.

"It's time to go beyond what's expected in golf," adds Rashada Whitehead, national managing director of Culture, Immersion & Inclusion at Grant Thornton. "Grant Thornton is supporting HBCU golf programs around the country to help reimagine and expand the game. This opportunity will build connections that empower the future of the sport and, most importantly, amplify diverse and valued voices. Together, we can create a game that is enjoyed by all."

Grant Thornton is a community of more than 9,000 problem solvers who value relationships and are ready to help public and private organizations of all sizes and industries create more confident futures.  With revenues of $1.97 billion and 51 offices across the U.S., the firm goes beyond the expected to make business more personal and build trust into every result.
