INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Tennessee State men's tennis player
Jonasz Dziopak was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week as the league announced its winners on Wednesday afternoon.
The true freshman went 2-0 last week, picking up two wins in the No. 1 singles position. Dziopak earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win over Eastern Illinois on Sunday.
The Poland native is on a three-match win streak as he picked up a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory against Southern Indiana the week prior, as he moves to 9-5 in singles action on the year.
Dziopak's award marks the first Player of the Week award for TSU this season and their first ever in the Horizon League. The Tigers saw three players earn OVC weekly awards last season, and prior to that TSU had just received three since 2012.
TSU will be back in action this weekend as they are set to play two matches on the road. The Tigers will take on Lindenwood on Friday, followed by a match at EIU on Saturday.
