INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Tennessee State men's tennis team had a successful first year in the Horizon League Conference as two players took home yearly awards as the league announced its All-Horizon League teams and superlative winners this past weekend.
True freshman
Jonasz Dziopak was named to the All-Horizon League First Team, while he was also named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year. Joining Dziopak was another true freshman,
Taj Hibbert who was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team.
The two first-year Tigers were critical pieces of TSU's team this season, as they led the team to a 10-15 (6-4 Horizon League) mark and a first-round tournament appearance against Youngstown State.
Dziopak put together a 12-7 mark in singles play this season, while he was 8-10 in doubles action. He spent most of the year in the No. 1 singles position, as he held an 8-3 record at line one. The Poland native had a 5-3 record in Horizon League play in singles, while going 3-4 in doubles.
Hibbert owned a 13-9 record in singles play this season and an 8-13 mark in doubles play. The Australian native played in the No. 3 spot in singles, going 11-3 on the season. He went 7-2 in Horizon singles action and finished 3-4 in doubles play.
