INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Tennessee State University's men's tennis standout Taj Hibbert was named the Horizon League Men's Singles Player of The Week following an impressive performance over the weekend as the league announced the honors on Wednesday afternoon.
The sophomore secured victories in all three of his matches while aiding TSU in clinching two crucial conference wins.
Hibbert's dominance on the court was evident as he delivered commanding performances in each of his matches which included an SEC win. Against Eastern Illinois, he triumphed in the No. 3 spot with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory on Friday afternoon. He continued his stellar form against Southern Indiana on Saturday, securing another win in the No. 3 spot with scores of 6-3, 6-3. In his final match on Sunday against Georgia, Hibbert showcased his prowess by clinching a hard-fought victory in the No. 1 spot with scores of 7-5, 6-4.
Hibbert leads the team with an 11-5 record in singles play this season.
Hibbert and the Tigers will wrap up the regular season on Friday at Tennessee Tech.
