Men's Tennis Hosts Lipscomb in Season Opener

STARTING SERVE: After taking the fall semester off due to the ongoing health pandemic, the Tennessee State men's tennis team looks to open its spring season at home against the local Lipscomb Bisons. First serve is set for 11 a.m. at Hadley Park Tennis Center Sunday, Feb. 7.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU closed the 2019-20 season hosting Saint Louis University in late February, a few months shy of what was expected due to the abrupt cancellation of the remainder of the season thanks to COVID-19The Tigers fell 3-4, closing the season with a 2-7 record.

Leandros Misdrachis and Juan Carlos paired at No. 3 doubles for the sole TSU win, 7-5, allowing the Bilikens a 1-0 advantage moving into singles play. TSU went 3-3 in singles action with Stephan Koruga winning his tie breaker 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, Misdrachis won 6-2, 7-5 and senior Kato Richardson closed out the afternoon at No. 6, winning, 6-0, 6-1.

SERIES INFORMATION: Big Blue has not seen Lipscomb in a match since 2005 when the Tigers lost 7-0 at home.

UP NEXT: The men's tennis team will take to Birmingham, Alabama, to take on former OVC member Samford, Thursday, Feb. 18. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
