NASHVILLE – With six meets under their belts, the Tennessee State men's and women's track and field teams will now shift their focus to the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
The Flying Tigers and Tigerbelles will head to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in the two-day event, beginning tomorrow Feb. 22 through Feb. 23. You can view the two-day meet schedule

here. The meet will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Both squads have a successful indoor season, combing for nine OVC weekly awards.
On the men's side,
Keandric Verge has performed well in the triple jump and long jump, recording four first-place finishes in the TJ, and one first-place finish in the long jump.
Forrest Saffo has paced the throwers this season, notching first-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw.
True freshman
Anthony Ward has quickly made a name for himself on the track, as he has tallied multiple top-five finishes in the 55m dash, 60m, and 200m. Ward has also shown his ability to notch top-five finishes in the long jump and triple jump. Freshman
Robert Hooper has paced the men in middle distance events, recording top 10 finishes in the 800 and mile, along with freshman
Thurman McMullen who was named the OVC Male Freshman of the Week after his performance in the Ed Temple Classic.
The women have been led by junior
Elaina Housworth and freshman
Serenity Harry. Housworth and Harry have both earned three OVC weekly awards, while freshman thrower
Leilany Laureano also earned an honor on the women's side.
Housworth has notched four first-place finishes in the triple jump and one first-place finish in the long jump this indoor season. Harry has been the top performer on the track for the Tigerbelles, as she has notched first-place finishes in the 60m dash and 200m, along with multiple top-five finishes.
Sanura Branigan is another Tigerbelle to keep your eye on in the OVC Championships as she competed well in the 60m and 200m.
Natalya Bryant, who is a multi-athlete will look to perform well in multiple running and field events.
