MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Tennessee State women's golf team knocked 10 strokes off their round one score, as they finished with a 229 in round two of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals.
The Tigers remain in 5
th place with a 668 (239, 229), as they are ahead of Southern Indiana and Eastern Illinois with 18 holes remaining. TSU was forced to face windy conditions for a second straight day. "Today was just as windy, with most shots calling for an adjustment of 10-30 yards throughout the round", stated head coach
Parrish McGrath.
Less than one day after receiving the program's first-ever All-OVC postseason award,
Erin Marcelino broke another record on Monday as she tallied a 74, which is a new career best for the freshman. She also slides past former TSU golfer Paige Harlin who shot a 75 to claim the new lowest score in an OVC Championship event for the women's golf program. Marcelino is tied for second place with a 152 (78, 74).
Alexandra Sadler finds herself in the top 20 as she is tied for 17
th with a 165 (81, 84).
Lucia Pantigozo cut 11 strokes off her round one 92 as she fired an 81 to finish in 26
th with a 173 after two rounds.
Kalee Rhodes rounds out TSU's lineup with a 178 (88, 90) as she is tied for 29
th with a round remaining.
The Tigers will close out the 54-hole event with the final 18 holes tomorrow morning.
