MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Tennessee State women's golf team broke three program records as the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals came to a close on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers recorded their best program finish in the OVC Championships as they came in 5
th place, with a program record low score of 991 (339, 329, 323) for the three-day event. TSU finished with a 323 in Tuesday's final round which also marks a new program record for a low round score in an OVC Championship round.
Erin Marcelino was the top TSU golfer as she finished tied for 7
th place after firing a 232 (78, 74, 80).
Alexandra Sadler earned a top 20 finish as she finished tied for 18
th with a 247 (81, 84, 82).
Lucia Pantigozo was the only other Tiger to record a score in the 70's as she tallied a 79 in round three. Pantigozo finished tied for 20
th with a 252 (92, 81, 79), as she showed improvement each round.
Kalee Rhodes (88, 90, 82) had her best round of the tournament this afternoon to finish with a 260 and in 28
th place.
Marcelino led the field in par four scoring opportunities as she finished +2, while also leading TSU with five birdies. Sadler led the Tigers with 32 pars.
TSU will have one more event in Stockbridge, Georgia, as they will play in an HBCU event hosted by the Women In Golf Foundation.
