Candace Saleaumua | Volleyball | 2007-08

Candace Saleaumua was one of the most versatile and accomplished players in Tennessee State volleyball history, excelling as a setter, attacker and defensive specialist during her standout career with the Tigers. A two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference performer, Saleaumua emerged as one of the league's premier all-around players by contributing in every phase of the game. During her junior season in 2007, she led Tennessee State with 10.39 assists per set, ranking eighth in the OVC, while also pacing the team with 3.53 digs per set. She recorded double-digit digs in 28 matches, surpassed 20 assists in every match she played and posted season highs of 61 assists and 25 digs. As a senior in 2008, Saleaumua elevated her game even further, earning First Team All-OVC honors after leading the Tigers with 350 digs and 3.4 digs per set while also ranking second on the team with 256 kills. Her unique ability to impact every aspect of a match was highlighted by five triple-doubles and 12 double-doubles during the season. Saleaumua recorded double-digit digs in all but five matches and reached double figures in kills 14 times, including a career-high 25-kill performance against UT Martin. Whether directing the offense, anchoring the defense or providing critical points at the net, Saleaumua consistently delivered for the Tigers. Her all-around excellence, leadership and ability to fill multiple roles made her one of the most complete players in program history and one of Tennessee State volleyball's most memorable student-athletes.
